KMinPractice.com is a not-profit initiative that started in March 2008 and is dedicated to developing and sharing knowledge about Knowledge Management. In doing so, it is focused on presenting a Knowledge Management implementation approach and in this way aspires to trigger a discussion about standardization in KM that will ultimately increase the field’s maturity level. Its central objective is to provide an environment where researchers and practitioners can get together, create and share knowledge about knowledge management issues, and finally support the refinement of the proposed KMinPractice approach. Guiding PrinciplesKMinPractice.com is based on the belief that in order to take Knowledge Management a step further, the field has to be structured, through the development of a comprehensive and practical approach. The underlining assumption is that despite any difficulties and shortcomings it seems that the proper use of standardization can provide considerable advantages. Given the eclectic and subjective nature of Knowledge Management, KMinPractice considers standardization in terms of common and widely accepted approaches that do not necessarily comply with the strict requirements of a standard. Achieving the above described consensus is not an easy process and it is believed that a continuous and long dialogue is required.
